Hail, Norrathians!

We are very excited to officially announce the long-awaited conversion to 64-bit Servers and Clients for EverQuest II!

You may be wondering, "Why is this important?" This update is going to allow for the utilization of more of the memory on your computer and on our servers. Currently, no matter how much physical or virtual memory is on your machine, we are limited to using 4GBs of it. With 64-bit clients, we can—in theory—use up to 16 exabytes which will improve stability and address critical performance issues some players have experienced relating to memory. If you have experienced stability issues relating to memory (or even if you haven’t!), we encourage you to join us on Beta starting March 29, 2022.

You will need to run a 64-bit Windows OS to participate in testing on Beta. We want to make sure this transition is as smooth as possible, so dates for the official launch are subject to change to make sure we can provide you with the best possible update. LaunchPad will automatically update your client and you will be able to enjoy EverQuest II in a new and improved way. It is just around the corner so stay tuned for further announcements!

Officially, the sunsetting of the 32-bit client will take effect on the day that the 64-bit clients are released to the live servers. Because of this migration, we will no longer be able to support 32-bit systems. We recommend making backups of any INI files (or other customizations) in your client directory and upgrading to at least the minimum 64-bit specs before the tentative July launch as shown below:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400/AMD Athlon x2 4050e
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics:  Nvidia GeForce 8800/AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT or higher (comparison chart)
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection
  • Hard Drive: 5 GB of free hard drive space

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850/AMD Phenom II x2
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 730/AMD Radeon HD 7670 or higher (comparison chart)
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB of free hard drive space

You can determine if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows on Microsoft's Support Site.

Darkpaw Games is committed to improving the stability and experience of your favorite games. Converting to 64-bit servers and clients is one of the ways we hope to reduce issues, but we are not stopping here. In the coming years, we are planning on more big projects like this and hope to be able to share some of them with you in the future.

Thank you for your continued understanding, patience, and support, and as always, we will see you in Norrath!
