Game Update 28: Preview

Welcome to the official Preview for Game Update 28! We have a lot of exciting things in store for this update, from light-hearted seasonal fun to the ominous rumblings of the imminent gods. So let’s get right to it!

Preludes and Interludes

Norrath continues to buzz with the machinations of the gods and their prophets. Over the past few months we’ve seen the emissaries of Cazic-Thule, Mithaniel Marr, Rallos Zek, and Quellious disturb the fragile balance of our world, recruiting soldiers for their unknown plans. Now it seems that Solusek Ro is stirring as well, firing up the passions of his worshippers of old. And rumor speaks also of a lieutenant of the Duke of Below traveling the land.

The next two Live Events can be embarked upon from the beaches of Lavastorm and Antonica, just outside Blackburrow. You can also expect a couple more precursors to the return of the gods to appear before Game Update 29, but we'll keep their identities a secret for now.

Nights of the Dead

A frightful wind courses through the cities of Qeynos and Freeport. Toward the end of October, you'll get a chance to celebrate one of Norrath's favorite holidays!

The Nights of the Dead started as a holiday of the people of Ro, but it has grown to be celebrated by many of Norrath’s peoples. Celebrants undergo illusionary spells that temporarily turn them into skeletons and zombies and wear frightening and realistic masks. During this two week celebration they join together in midnight banquets and parade in the streets knocking on doors requesting goodies. The masked people then take their goodies to the banquet at night to share with everyone in a celebration that lasts till dawn.

Last year the cities of Qeynos and Freeport joined in with organized activities and decorations, and this year looks to be even bigger. Make sure you don’t miss the fun!

Into the Fresh Air

The crafters of Qeynos and Freeport have finally been convinced to come up out of their dark and dingy dungeons filled with industrial accidents waiting to happen! With the help of the Ironforge Exchange and the Coalition of Tradesfolke, a number of new tradeskill stations have been placed around the cities proper. Crafters can find a full array of tradeskill devices in Freeport East and Qeynos Harbor, but all city zones have appropriate devices available in locations that make sense. In addition, fuel vendors and writ takers have stationed themselves conveniently near the new devices.

Fall is a beautiful season in Norrath. All crafters should take this opportunity to enjoy the golden autumn sunshine while they pound their anvils and roll their dough!

And More!

Of course, the Preview is never a full listing of all the changes we have planned, just a highlight of some of the more interesting developments. The EQII team continues to work tirelessly behind the scenes to improve the EverQuest II experience for all players. Here’s a taste of some of those improvements in Game Update 28:

  • The house information panel will now tell you how many vault and vendor slots that the house can support.
  • The Quest Journal will no longer expand all trees every time you log in or zone.
  • There is a new user option that allows you to increase or decrease the font size in text and response bubbles.
  • Players can choose to enter /afk mode automatically if they don’t use keyboard for 5 minutes.

And that’s still not all! But you’ll have to wait for Game Update 28 to see the rest. Have a good weekend, and we’ll see you in Norrath!

Feel free to discuss this latest update in this thread!
