The EQ II development team is hard at work making a great game even greater. They're continually adding new features, new content, and improved performance.

Some of the most notable recent enhancements that we've made include the Mentoring System, the Norrathian Express in-game mail system, as well as new features introduced as part of the Bloodline Chronicles Adventure Pack such as breakable walls and several new instances for solo players, groups and raids.

Here are just a few of the exciting gameplay enhancements that have recently made their way to Live servers:

Breakable Walls
In The Bloodline Chronicles, destructible walls lead to unexplored tombs and the promise of adventure. This new gameplay feature will also become part of future EverQuest II content!

Expect many more new and interesting ways to interact with the environment in the future. Breakable walls are only a taste of what is to come.

Dynamic Encounters
Throughout Norrath you will find many different examples of triggered spawns. In the Commonlands, you may unintentionally walk on sacred grounds, causing the skeletons below to become angry and attack. In Antonica, you may find a Distressed Merchant being attacked by enemies.

Defeating these enemies will likely result in your being rewarded for your bravery. In The Bloodline Chronicles adventure pack, disturbing the graves of the fallen may lead to dire consequences—or daring adventure!

Multiple Instances for Solo/Group/Raid
New instances have been tailored to different types of adventure parties. When entering these areas, you can choose between different versions of the instance in which you wish to adventure in: Solo, Group, or Raid.

For example, in The Bloodline Chronicles, The Crypt of T'Haen has both group and raid versions of the zone. The group version is called The Crypt of T'Haen: Endless Twilight. The raid version is called The Crypt of T'Haen: Vengeance.

There are also other Solo, Group, or Raid instances throughout the world of Norrath catering to a different number of players depending on your preference. Hint: Look for entrances to such locations within Zek, The Orcish Wastes.

Mentoring
The new Mentoring system allows higher-level players to act as a Mentor for lower level friends! When you right-click a lower-level group member, you will see an option to Mentor them. This benefits both the Mentor and Apprentice. They'll both receive loot and quest credit as if the Mentor were the same level as the Apprentice. Mentors will have the opportunity to revisit any of those quests or locations they may have missed along the way! Apprentices will receive an experience bonus while under the guidance of a Mentor. Mentors receive experience and advance toward their actual level while mentoring. The rate at which they receive XP depends on the level of their Apprentice. Mentoring someone below level 20 will earn very little XP for the Mentor, while taking an Apprentice that is level 25 or higher will earn a greater percentage of experience for the Mentor.

Note: Up to five other players can act as Mentors for a single player at the same time (each increasing the experience bonus).

  Housing
One of the most notable housing enhancements is that a group of players (up to 250) can share more housing responsibilities. Housing upkeep can now be prepaid and shared among characters. To prepay rent, just press the "Pay Upkeep" button before your next upkeep payment is due. Rent may also be shared. To share rent, use the account that is now linked to each house. Any character with Friend access or higher can contribute coin, status, or both to the account. Characters with Trustee access or higher can pay the upkeep fees from this account. The housing menu is accessible from outside by friends and trustees when upkeep is due.

Heritage rewards can now be turned into furnishings for your house or inn room. When inside your home, right-click your Heritage item and use it to decorate your home. To turn it back into a useable item, just right-click on it again and select the option to pick it up.

Another housing enhancement concerns No Trade items. They can now be placed in or removed from a house by the Owner or any Trustee. All No Trade items placed in a house remember who placed them and can only be picked up by that character. The house Owner and any Trustees can move any No Trade items placed in the house. The house owner can destroy No Trade items not owned by them if necessary.

  In-Game Mail: The Norrathian Express

Send and receive mail at Norrathian Express mailboxes located in East Freeport and Qeynos Harbor, as well as all districts and villages. You may also purchase a mailbox for your own home.
