Our exploration of Freeport takes us to Stonestair Byway this week. As all the Freeport hoods are, Stonestair is a bit on the dingy side. We're fairly certain that there is no cleaning crew. There is a certain amount of amusement to be had when you first see the inhabitants of this hood. It seems the erudites and kerrans just can't get away from each other. Sadly enough, no fights broke out while we were exploring. Maybe next time...

The entrance to the Graveyard can be found just off the main road from the docks. One assumes they need to be close because of all the fights. Also, beware of the flirtatious kerra nearby. Her name is Pona. She's a bit scary with the purring and all, but at least she's not looking for catnip.

Just through this gate is North Freeport. Much like the dark elves, it seems the kerrans and erudites wanted to be close to the mage tower and the priests' temple. Whether it's because they share the dark elven gift for these professions is debatable.

Kerrans and erudites have posted mentors at the dock entrance to the hood. It's clear that there is still some lingering animosity as the two stand well apart. Again, no fighting broke out. Pity.

At the Stonestair Byway branch of the Freeport Reserve, you'll find more than just money in the vault. It seems there's also a good deal of yarn and moldy old books. Can't imagine why...

Residents of Stonestair who are interested in the crafting arts (and looking for a good broker) can find what they want here, at the Nepeta Cataria. We asked, but not even the patrons know what in Norrath it's supposed to mean...

In the center of town is a lovely fountain. It's very peaceful and quite a landmark. It's also filled with very cold water. Unfortunately we didn't see any of the cat people get tossed in, so the entertainment was really missing.

The inn here is called Safe Haven. It seems that the denizens of Stonestair Byway have agreed not to brawl here. How very disappointing.

Just next to the inn is the local mailbox. It seems to shake quite a bit and there's a lot of squeaking. Perhaps we found some missing ratonga.

While it's clear that the people of Stonestair Byway are disappointing in their refusal to carry on the ancient feud between their people, they do seem to cling to some of their racial pride. The local tavern is straight across from the fountain and is called The Hole.

As always, an entrance to the Thieve's Way. It's great for exploring, but the newer residents should exercise caution. Random wandering Qeynosian teenagers looking for a good time aren't the only trouble one can run into down there. There are actual thieves!

One would think that with a name like The Scratching Post, that the shop would cater to the felines and carry something like toy mice and fuzzy fishing poles. However, it is run by erudites and houses the local linguist and research assistant, who seem very interested in kerrans. We guess it takes a lot of work to learn how to meow and chase one's tail in circles.

By the gate to North Freeport, the mender does a brisk business. We're not entirely certain how, given that none of the folk here seem to fight... Perhaps it was just a slow day when we visited. Of course one also wonders if the kitties singe their fur a bit working with the fire as they do...
