The leaves are turning and the air has become crisp in the land of Norrath. Ghoulish activity has started to increase. It can mean only one thing; the return of the Nights of the Dead. Norrath's annual Halloween celebration will be returning from 12:01am PDT on October 16th and will run through 11:59pm PST on November 9th.

Kiara stood by a tree just outside the entrance to Neriak. She breathed deeply of the fall air and smiled. This was her favourite time of year. The weather started to cool and the trees changed colours. And the best part... The Nights of the Dead.

Skipping into Neriak (yes, skipping. She's a very bad dark elf...), Kiara pondered the upcoming events. She knew that the Queen didn't like having it celebrated in Neriak, but that wouldn't stop her from enjoying one of her two favourite holidays.

Already she was beginning to see signs of the impending festivities in the form of jack-o-lanterns and other decorations. Her own home was slated for a full overhaul, involving bats, cobwebs (sans spiders, of course!), a couple of ghosts, and hopefully some fog if she could only figure out how to make fog indoors!

There was so much to do this year. So many celebrations across Norrath and only a few weeks to enjoy it all. Kiara was tempted to draw up a schedule just to make sure that she got to visit everything... Although perhaps she didn't have to sneak into Qeynos this year to partake of their fun as well. She was fairly certain there was still a lingering bruise from an overzealous guard last year.

I can't imagine why he didn't believe that I was wearing a dark elf costume... Oh well!

She hurried home to try on the many new costumes that she'd purchased earlier in the day. If she had time, she might go trick-or-treating in each costume!

Kiara twirled in front of the mirror. The werewolf was very intimidating. She grrr'd at herself in the mirror and dissolved into laughter. No one would be frightened of her, even in this mask.

Next she tried on the headless huntsman mask. It had struck her as particularly gruesome in the store and proved to be even more so when actually tried on! This was definitely the costume to start off her Nights of the Dead ramblings. She tried on a few more costumes before finding her favourite; the new scarecrow costume the merchants were carrying this year was truly terrifying. It was eerily similar to the moppet costume she had... this was definitely the best of the lot!

It was so exciting! In addition to all of the usual activities, there were many new additions that she wanted to explore and Kiara couldn't decide if she should do all the new things first, or do all the old familiar things first.

In the end, she flipped a copper piece and ended up heading for new adventures! Her first stop was the hedgemaze that had been grown over the last year. Who doesn't love a maze?!? After that, she'd hunt up the new recipe book...

This was sure to be the best Nights of the Dead celebration ever!
