Where in the real life world do you live? Near San Francisco

What type of work do you do? What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing EQII? I've recently retired from 27 years in software development. Besides gaming I've taken up painting again. I'm still pretty bad at it but baby steps, right? :)

What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? What other MMOs have you played? My MMO days started with EQ back around the Kunark release. My sister was already playing and she got me hooked. Since then I've played EQ, FFXI, WoW, and LoTRO to the level cap, and dabbled in a few others. I find I like the RPG group/raid style of MMO best, and first-person-shooters least.

How long have you played EQII? Since launch, with some long breaks for WoW and LoTRO. I've been fickle. ;-)

How long is your typical gaming session when playing EQII? What does a typical EQII day consist of for you? I usually play for about 4 hours at a stretch. I just returned to the game a couple weeks ago, so I don't have a routine yet. When I'm not leveling my new Sarnak main I spend a lot of time researching game play questions, like "Should I turned off adventure XP now for more AAs?" and "What effect does deity faction have?". I also enjoy crafting and try to keep a few items up on the broker to keep the cash flow positive.

What was the race and class of your very first character? Back at launch I played a Kerran monk

What is your highest level in EQII? 46 dirge with no AAs /sigh

What race and class is your main character? Sarnak Coercer

What do you like the most about the class you have chosen for your main character? It's not boring! I'm currently mostly soloing using +4 heroic pets. It's fast and risky, and forces me to reach pretty deeply into my bag of tricks. I enjoy classes with plenty of knobs, and learning what I can do with them.

Does your main character worship a deity? Innoruuk

Which classes in EQII have you NOT played? Other than monk, I haven't played fighters. And other than dirge, I haven't played scouts.

What is your favorite expansion? Rise of Kunark. Seriously, this game just keeps getting better and more compelling. RoK does a masterful job of balancing EQ Kunark nostalgia with gameplay advances. I love the crafting changes too!

What is your favorite zone? Skyfire - I just love the way it looks.

What is the most platinum you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters? Currently I'm saving up the 5p for my level 33 master 1 charm spell. It will be a while before Firebuck can afford a mount!

What do you like best about EQII? It's probably a comment on the progress MMOs have made, but it seems like it takes a lot of different things to make a game great these days: solid game mechanics, immersive game world, lots of interesting content/lore, effective management of sploiters -- these are all "must haves" now. The things that set EQII apart for me are the mature tone of the community and the range of content choices - especially raid content. Gotta have something to challenge your character when you reach the level cap!

What do you get out of playing EQII? I play MMOs because I really enjoy the teamwork and camaraderie of beating hard content in a group or raid. As a newbie I don't get many opportunities for it, but that's what I hope to get from the game eventually.

Describe your best experience from playing EQII? It's the world events I remember most fondly. When our server was building the griffon towers in Thundering Steppes and Nek Forest I had a blast meeting and working together with folks from other guilds and level ranges.

Do you run or work for an EQII Fan Site? Nope
