Have lived in San Diego for 5 years, just bought a house here last August.
How's San Diego treating you?
I love living in San Diego. The weather is great, the people are nice, and I'm so close to everything! The beach, the mountains, and many other things that San Diego has to offer.
How long have you been with SOE?
I just had my 6 year anniversary here at SOE.
What are your responsibilities?
As a Network Engineer, we are responsible for the security and maintenance of our entire network. That includes all of the desktop machines, game servers, web servers, development servers, switches, routers, and any other device on our network that needs connectivity. I can't get into the specifics of the network as that is all fairly secret...sorry!
Did you intend to find a job in the gaming industry?
I started working in the Gaming industry in 1993 when I went to work for a company called "Fightertown" in Lake Forest, California. In 1996 I went to work in New Jersey as the lead artist on a World War II Flight Simulation. In 1998 I moved back to California to finish College at Chapman University and to play lacrosse in college. In 2001 I got a job at Sony Online Entertainment working in Technical Support. I worked in Technical Support for 18 months, then I went to work on Star Wars Galaxies in Austin, Texas. After working on Star Wars Galaxies I went to work in 'Operations', maintaining all of the servers that run all of our games. In July of 2007, I moved into the Network Engineering department where I am currently working.
Have you ever been to Germany?
I would love to go to Germany, but I haven't ever been. I hope the World Cup is held there again so I can go watch 'football' and enjoy all of Germany.
How far have you ever traveled at one time?
The furthest place I have traveled is Japan.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to ride my dirt bikes; I have been on a few riding trips with you too.
