Deep under Norrath's surface, within the twisting and vast caverns of Thalumbra, stands the imposing dhalgar and gnemlin city of Maldura. It is here where the Dark Gears, a cast of gnomish mages, explored the arcane arts with decreasing regard for morals or ethics. Under the leadership of the gnemlin, Black Bolt, it seemed no magic was forbidden, and no cost was too high. Inevitably, this led to some horrific results and the endangerment of all of Maldura. Now with new leadership, the Dark Gears are on a mission of redemption. The most contrite of which are determined to apply their knowledge and talents in productive and selfless ways, all in hopes of assuaging their personal guilt and repairing the reputation of the Dark Gears.
